Aim and Scope of Journal
Working Papers in Second Language Studies is a student-run, peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to scholarship within the broad field of second language studies, including second language acquisition, applied linguistics, TESOL, and other disciplines. Housed in the Applied Linguistics program at Michigan State University, the primary goal of this journal is to support students in the Second Language Studies PhD and MATESOL programs as well as in neighboring programs at MSU related to applied linguistics and language education in developing their work through peer review and sharing their work with a broader audience. The journal also welcomes submissions from students outside of MSU that focus on any topic within second language studies and applied linguistics.
Working Papers in Second Language Studies publishes a variety of manuscript types, ranging from research proposals and literature reviews to completed and in-progress empirical research, reviews of books and teaching materials, discussions of specific aspects of teaching and research, and interviews with scholars in the field. Please see the Submission Guidelines for specific information about each manuscript type.
